Palestinian “Hammas†spokesman: Kurei demanded a clear recognition of Israel
Mohammed Nezzal
The influential member in the Palestinian Islamic revolutionary movement “Hammas†Mohammed Nezal has considered the visit paid by its leader Khaled Mechaal to Cairo, as part of the Egyptian initiated by the Egyptian authorities to salvage the Palestinian national dialogue in the wake of the latest events that hit the West bank.

-
Talking yesterday during his visit to “Echourok” premises, he excluded the existence of relationship between this visit and the discourse delivered last week by the US president Barack Obama at Cairo University. He went on saying that “Hammas” movement was not informed by a US plan concerning the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
-
-
On the other hand, he praised Obama’s discourse for what it carries as ideas, but the question is whether the US president is able to put into practice all the principles and values he talked about in his allocution and whether he can really challenge the centers of powers inside the US, on top of them the Zionist lobby that holds the power of decision in this country.
-
-
Answering to a question concerning Obama’s pressure on Hammas to acknowledge the state of Israel, he said that the Palestinian people were not expecting more from Obama, because some Arab nations are asking his movement the same thing and even the Palestinians are pulling in the same direction reporting Ahmed Kurei’s (top Feth official) words who said” your recognition to Israel must be crystal clear”.
-
-
In this respect, Mohammed Nezzal has reiterated his movement’s conditions to carry on the national dialogue saying no for Salam Fayadh as head of the government and Israel as state… he revealed that the Egyptian authorities have informed “Hammas” that the US and Israel would like to appoint Salam Fyadh as the future head of the new Palestinian government.
-
-
He added that Fyadh carries the “US program and more specifically the program traced by the US general Dayton” knowing that this top military officer was assigned the task to train the Palestinian security forces in order to crush revolutionary movement.
-
-
“Arab parties informed us that Israel will not carry out military operations on in GAZA”
-
-
Mohammed Nezzal has called for a political move to lift up the siege imposed on Gaza since 2007 denying any correlation between this suggestion and the prevailing understanding between the Palestinians as reported by some western and Arab parties. He further denied allegations relayed by some reports that his movement was informed about the latest Israeli strikes on GAZA saying “ these allegations are groundless, by contrast were informed by some Arab parties that the strikes were unlikely, declining to reveal these parties.
-
-
He nonetheless, excluded the probability of an Israeli military operation on Gaza in the immediate term adding that the priority of the Israeli authorities is shifted to the Islamic Republic of Iran “there is a consensus in Israel that Iran is the strategic enemy for the time being”.
-
-
“We are backed by Iran and Turkey but not by the Arab nations”
-
-
Replying to a question concerning the relationship between his movement and Iran, he said that the Iranian danger is overstated” As Arabs and Muslims it’s not in our benefit to get into a conflict with Iran and create imaginary foes..” He added “ If the Arabs are looking forward to reaching peace with Israel they have pacify Iran also, because this nation has a lot in common with the Arabs”.
-
-
He said that the Palestinian people receive help from two regional countries like Turkey and Iran praising the symbolic gesture made by the Turkish PM Tayip Erdogan when he left Davos Summit denouncing the Israeli president’s attitude, while the Arab League’s Chairman Amr Moussa kept seated by Shimon Perez.
-
-
Mohammed Nezzal hailed any form of Arab mediation to forge ahead in establishing a genuine Palestinian dialogue involving the different parties, especially if it is lead by the Algerian authorities who officially expressed their support for this people during the Israeli attacks on Gaza, wondering why the Arab nations have delegated Egypt to conduct the negotiations.
-
-
For his part “Echorouk” publisher Ali Fodhil praised the Palestinian resistance during the Israeli attacks on Gaza saying to his host “ We have lived the tragic events with all our senses and shared the misery of the Palestinian people all along this period”.
-
-
M Fodhil went on saying “ we salute through you the Palestinian relentless fight to face up to the Israeli and US attempts to yield to their conditions”. He seized this opportunity to ask Mohammed Nezzal about the best means to convey aids collected by “Echourok” to the Palestinian people, insisting that these aids will reach the Palestinian families.
-
-
It should be noted that “Echorouk” has published a special issue soon after the end of the Israeli strikes on Gaza and allocated the incomes to the Palestinian families.
